Belarus wins 15 medals at European Spochan Championship in Italy

MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) The Belarusian spochan team won 15 medals at the 10th European Spochan Championship in Rome, Italy, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Belarusian Spochan Federation Andrei Kalistov.

Dmitry Vasilchuk from Belarus Vitebsk topped the individual standings. Seven silver medals were brought to Belarus by Maksim Rishko (Vitebsk), Vladimir Sholokhov (Brest), Maria Tatarinova (two medals), Milana Stegantseva, Sofia Dubchinskaya (all Vitebsk)

The Belarusian womens team finished second in the team competitions, falling to Italy in the final.

Belarus Bobruisk twins with Italys Iglesias

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) Belarus Bobruisk has twinned with Italys Iglesias, BelTA learned from Belarus Honorary Consulate in Cagliari, Italy.

The official signing of the agreement on twinning relations took place in Iglesias City Hall during the visit of the Bobruisk City Hall delegation to the city. Iglesias Mayor Emilio Gariazzo and Bobruisk Major Alexander Studnev signed the document in the Medieval Hall of the Municipal Council.


UN pleased with progress in refugee employment in Belarus

MOGILEV, 18 October (BelTA) Cooperation for the sake of employing refugees is vigorously developed in Belarus, BelTA learned from Jean-Yves Bouchardy, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Belarus. Jean-Yves Bouchardy took part in a roundtable session on the employment of refugees in Mogilev.

About 30 refugees are in need of employment in Belarus every year.

Preparations in progress for major radiation accident response exercise in Belarus

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) Practical actions of the command staff exercise on responding to radiation accidents will take place in over 20 districts and at two border checkpoints in Belarus, representatives of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry told BelTA.

A radiation accident response in Brest Oblast will be practiced in Luninets District, Brest District, and at a border checkpoint. In Vitebsk District the exercise will take place in Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Braslav District, Verkhnedvinsk District, Glubokoye District, Dokshitsy District, Dubrovno District, Lepel District, Miory District, Postavy District, Chashniki District, and Sharkovshchina District.


Mogilev Oblast, Chinas Jiangsu Province to intensify cooperation

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) There is a need to intensify the interregional cooperation between Mogilev Oblast and the Chinese twin region Jiangsu Province, Belarus Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky said at the Jiangsu Province-Mogilev Oblast business forum in Nanjing, China, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.

Vladimir Zinovsky praised the current level of relations between Belarus and China, which can be described as trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.


Kondrusiewicz: Awarding CCEE Plenary Assembly to Minsk is a sign of respect to Belarus

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) Hosting the annual Plenary Assembly of the Council of European Episcopal Conferences (CCEE) is a sign of respect to Belarus, reads an address by
Archbishop Metropolitan of Minsk and Mogilev Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz published on the website of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The Archbishop, in particular, recalled that the Plenary Assembly to be held in Minsk from 28 September to 1 October is dedicated to young people and the future of the continent as a common home.

Minsk hosting Belarusian-Pomeranian economic forum

MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) The 9th edition of the Belarusian-Pomeranian economic forum kicks off in Minsk on 14 September, BelTA learned from the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.

The event will be held as part of the visit of a delegation of Pomorskie Province of Poland to Minsk Oblast. The forum will be preceded by a meeting of the Polish delegation with representatives of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.


Belarus' harvest exceeds 7.5m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have already cropped more than 7.5 million tonnes of grain (including buckwheat and millet), BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 5 September, Belarus grain harvest exceeded 7.5 million tonnes. Minsk Oblast harvested 1,886.6 tonnes, Grodno Oblast 1.348 tonnes, Brest Oblast 1,231.4 tonnes. Mogilev Oblast and Gomel Oblast cropped 1,166.

Mogilev Oblast to host international conference on woodworking on 14-15 September

MOGILEV, 22 August (BelTA) An international science and practice conference on woodworking and the human impact on forest resources will take place in Mogilev Oblast on 14-15 September, representatives of the administration of the free economic zone (FEZ) Mogilev told BelTA.

The conference is expected to gather representatives of Belarusian and foreign woodworking companies, producers of furniture, wood boards, and other products from nine countries: Belarus, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey, Slovakia, Germany, and China.

Belarus harvests over 5m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have already cropped more than 5 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 14 August, Belarus grain harvest exceeded 5 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 1,131.6 tonnes, Minsk Oblast 1,211.6 tonnes. Gomel Oblast and Grodno Oblast cropped 768,500 and 897,600 tonnes each. The harvest of Mogilev Oblast reached 654,900 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast 407,900 tonnes.
