Belarus on track to complete winter cruciferous sowing

Belarus is competing the sowing of winter cruciferous crops for seeds, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Some 275,300 hectares of winter cruciferous crops, including winter coleseed, (98.3% of the plan) have been planted for seeds. According to the autumn fieldwork plan 2019 approved by the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, the sowing of winter cruciferous crops for seeds should be completed by 30 August. Soils are currently prepared to sow winter crops. Some 346,400 hectares, or 25.6% of the plan, have already been prepared.

Belarus has harvested more than 2 million hectares planted with grain (except for maize), which makes 97.1% of the cropping areas. Belarusian farmers harvested some 6.4 million tonnes of grain, with the average yield of 31.2 centners per hectare (26.4 centners per hectare last year). Minsk Oblast has produced 1,686,000 tonnes of grain. Brest Oblast made almost 1.2 million tonnes of grain. Grodno Oblast harvested over 1.17 million tonnes of grain, Vitebsk Oblast – 904,800 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 766,900 tonnes, and Gomel Oblast - 677,700 tonnes of grain.

The procurement order on grain is 815,000 tonnes this year. The order is 89.5% (729,700 tonnes) complete.
