Malashko: Future is impossible without historical memory

MOGILEV,10 May (BelTA) – Future is impossible without preserving the historical memory, Belarus healthcare Minister Valery Malashko told BelTA as he attended the Victory Day events in Mogilev.

“We build our future relaying on the achievements of previous generations. The twentieth century was the century of the Great Victory, the age of space exploration and, unfortunately, the century of collapse of the great state - the Soviet Union. Drawing lessons from the past, we must understand that the unity of our people and peace in the country are the most important things. It is not accidental that Belarus has become the host of peace negotiations and is doing everything it can to restore and strengthen friendship between Slavic peoples,” Valery Malashko said.

In his view, patriotic education of the younger generation is very important. Young people should know the history of their country, its heroes. “I think it is important that Belarus had retained the tradition of celebrating the Victory Day. This serves as yet another example for the younger generations to respect the memory and the history,” he added.
