Mogilev Oblast, Russia’s Tula Oblast eager to step up manufacturing cooperation

MOGILEV, 10 June (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast and Tula Oblast, Russia intend to develop and deepen manufacturing cooperation ties. The interest was confirmed during the meeting of Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky and a delegation of Tula Oblast led by First Vice Governor Yuri Andrianov, BelTA has learned.

The meeting in Mogilev was the logical continuation of the agreement on cooperation between Mogilev Oblast and Tula Oblast in trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural affairs. The agreement was signed during the third Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia the day before.

Up till now cooperation between the two regions has been primarily focused on developing trade and humanitarian sphere. Now is the time to advance the relations to a new level. “We should use the available serious economic and R&D potential of the two regions to work to create joint manufacturing enterprises, to bolster and advance manufacturing cooperation between economic operators. It is necessary to start making competitive products, including for the sake of selling them on third-country markets,” noted the Mogilev Oblast Governor.

Vladimir Domanevsky suggested working on establishing joint ventures in Tula Oblast to make agricultural machines, compact tractors for utilities industry, alfalfa seeds and valuable fish varieties. He also suggested considering the idea of training specialists for Tula Oblast in Mogilev Oblast education institutions at the expense of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The Mogilev Oblast Governor also drew attention of the Russian guests to stronger cooperation in such spheres as tourism and youth exchange programs.

In turn, Yuri Andrianov backed the idea of advancing manufacturing cooperation and stepping up investment cooperation. He suggested creating a working group within one month to take care of trade and economic cooperation between the regions in addition to working out a clear-cut action program for the near future. “We should fill the cooperation agreement we have signed with concrete projects and events so that their implementation would produce a considerable effect, would contribute to the successful development of our regions and higher living standards of our people,” he stressed.

Members of the Tula Oblast delegation were made familiar with the operation of the sprout farm Vabich, Belynichi District and the dairy company Babushkina Krynka. They also laid flowers at a memorial shrine in the Buinichi Field memorial complex.
