CSTO foreign ministers adopt three joint statements

MOSCOW, 21 September (BelTA) – The foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have adopted three joint statements at a meeting in New York. These are the documents On Counteracting International Terrorism, On Securing Universal World Stability, and On the Situation in Afghanistan and the Threat of the Strengthening Positions of International Terrorist and Extremist Organizations in the Northern Provinces of the Country, BelTA learned from the CSTO website.

The participants of the meeting exchanged opinions on the priority issues for the CSTO included into the agenda of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, and also the major areas of cooperation between the CSTO and the UN, first of all, in the matters related to regional security, peacekeeping efforts and the fight against terrorism.

The ministers agreed to continue the coordination of the foreign political agenda in line with the CSTO Collective Security Strategy through 2025 approved by the presidents.

Taking part in the meeting was CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov. He informed the ministers about the preparations for the CSTO Collective Security Council session scheduled for late November in Minsk.
