Days of Georgian Culture kick off in Belarus

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – Days of Georgian Culture in Belarus opened at the Palace of the Republic in the Belarusian capital on 2 September, BelTA has learned.

The Georgian delegation is led by First Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mikheil Giorgadze.

Belarus’ Culture Minister Yuri Bondar stated in his welcoming speech that the start to a tradition of exchanging days of culture between the two countries was given in November 2017. Then, Belarusian artists performed on the stage of the famous Shota Rustaveli State Academic Theater in Tbilisi. The audience got familiar with the Belarusian State Academic Honored Dance Company Khoroshki, the Belarusian State Ensemble Pesnyary, Honored Artist of Belarus Alena Lanskaya, soloist of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, Honored Artist of Belarus Vladimir Gromov, Belarus’ representative at the 2017 Junior Eurovision Helena Meraai.

This time Georgia has brought a return program to Belarus. Georgian culture has long crossed national borders and reached the international level, the minister said. “I am very happy that the Belarusian audience has an opportunity to see it, get acquainted with the Georgian national culture and art, discover new names,” Yuri Bondar said.

Days of Georgian Culture opened with a concert of the Georgian State Academic Ensemble "Erisioni". The exhibition in the lobby lounge of the Palace of he Republic featured the photos dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first Georgian Democratic Republic, and also the photos by Belarusian and Georgian artists.

The cinema days that kicked off on 31 August screened the feature film Blind Dates directed by Levan Koguashvili and short movies by Mikhail Kobakhidze.
