Belarus’ Mogilev Oblast, Hungary intend to bolster economic ties
MOGILEV, 13 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ Mogilev Oblast and Hungary intend to bolster economic ties. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Mogilev Oblast Governor Vladimir Domanevsky and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Belarus Vilmos Sziklavari, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Domanevsky, the dynamics of trade and economic cooperation between Mogilev Oblast and Hungary was positive in January-May: there was an increase in trade and exports. The potential for collaboration is far from being exhausted. We must build on the successes and work on deepening economic cooperation through the establishment of joint ventures, bolstering ties between enterprises, more active investment policy and interregional relationships, Vladimir Domanevsky noted.
“Today there is no single enterprise with Hungarian investments in Mogilev Oblast. But there are serious projects, and we hope that first investment agreements will be signed soon,” the Governor said. Among the promising areas of cooperation he called agro-processing, wood processing, mechanical engineering.
For his part, Vilmos Sziklavari assured that Hungary is open to all-round cooperation with the Republic of Belarus, and that he sees huge potential for that. “To intensify the bilateral cooperation, we need to organize more meetings between the business communities. They quickly find a common language and understanding and identify areas of cooperation. The most important thing is that we have the opportunities and a great desire to work, and therefore nothing prevents us from achieving high results,” the Ambassador said.
Now the two parties are considering the projects to build a large poultry farm, a pharmaceutical factory, to produce canned green pea and corn at Bykhov Vegetable Canning Factory. “In addition to bolstering economic cooperation, we need to work actively on the development of tourism and promotion of youth exchanges. Because we live close by and know so little about each other. We are keen to establish direct contacts between educational institutions, participate in cultural projects and events. We also look forward and are preparing for the Days of Culture of the Republic of Belarus in Budapest scheduled for 2017,” Vilmos Sziklavari said.
The diplomat is set to get familiar with the FEZ Mogilev, and visit the Domostroenie branch of the Newsprint Plant in Shklov.
