IGOR KASKO SPOKE ABOUT THE INNOVATIONS OF THE BILL ON HEALTHCARE ISSUES

Member of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development Igor Kasko told reporters about the innovations of the bill “On Changing Laws on Health Care Issues.” Senators approved it today at the meeting of the eleventh session of the Council of the Republic of the seventh convocation.

“The main points that are very important for both the population and the medical community are changes regarding the accreditation procedure for healthcare organizations at all levels, including those with a high level of medical care. These include changes to the procedure for our specialists to undergo clinical residency in order to change the profile of their activities. And a number of other innovations that will be additionally introduced into the law on healthcare - aimed, first of all, at improving the quality and accessibility of medical care for the population of the republic,” noted Igor Kasko.

According to him, all these changes are needed by the times. “These changes are very necessary - both for the population and for the healthcare system. First of all, they solve a number of problematic issues at the legislative level that have not been resolved to date. Including the interpretation of clinical residency - how to accept it, how to improve a doctor’s qualifications, how much work is required after completing a clinical residency. The changes also concern the quality of medical care: healthcare organizations that have not been accredited for any type of medical specialty will not be allowed to provide medical care in this type. This is, first of all, the safety of medical care for our citizens,” the senator added.

In addition, the government is vested with the authority to regulate issues of medical and social rehabilitation of persons suffering from dependence syndrome on narcotic and other psychoactive substances, as well as to establish the specifics of financing state health care organizations that have not undergone medical accreditation. The features of the functioning of university clinics are established.
