Yekaterina Balakir from Minsk wins grand prix of contemporary art contest Avanti

MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) — Yekaterina Balakir from Minsk has won the Grand Prix of the 5th international contest of contemporary art for children and youth Avanti, BelTA learned from organizers of the contest.

The contestant was the best in the Jazz Vocal category. She was awarded by the Honored Artist of Belarus, bayan player Vladimir Tkach.

The first prize winners in the Pop Vocal category (solo) in different age categories are Yesenia Filimontseva (Gomel), Kira Chekun (Smorgon), Ivan Larchenko (Gorki), Yekaterina Osmolovskaya (Minsk), Ulyana Tishchenko (Mogilev), Anastasia Golubina (Bobruisk), Sergei Kindyakov (Molodechno), Alisa Dovnar (Minsk), and Yana Stelchenko (Lepel). The best bands in this category are the duet of Yelizaveta Tolmacheva and Sofia Tur (Gorki), the vocal band Bim-Bom (Minsk) and the duet of Yana Strelchenko and David Dymman (Lepel).

The folk music group Rostislav (Roslavl) from Russia has won the Folk Vocal nomination.

The instrument performance nomination winners are the piano duet Suvenir of the 10th gymnasium in Minsk, the piano duet of Donata Medvedeva and Viktor Seleznev from Novopolotsk and the band Stage from Molodechno District.

The music group Na Bis!Teatralushki from Bobruisk has become the first prize winner in the Scenic Art category with the scene from the performance Poglyad u Minulaye.

The participants of the 5th international contest of contemporary art Avanti, which took place in the Palace of Culture of Veterans, on 8-9 April were 315 solo artists and artistic groups .This is the biggest number of participants on record. The participants were talented children and youth between 5 and 25 years from CIS and non-CIS states.

The contest is held in order to develop and strengthen international cultural ties and to promote Belarusian national culture and art. The main goal of the contest is to develop children's creativity, preserve cultural traditions and promote various genres of contemporary art.

The founder of the contest is the Educational and Production Center Avanti (Minsk).
