MOGILEV, 20 December (BelTA) – The first batleika festival opened in the Mogilev Oblast Art Museum n.a. Pavel Maslenikov on 19 December, BelTA learnt from Deputy Director of the museum Svetlana Strogina.
In a span of 30 days Mogilev will be hosting theatrical shows of Belarus, Russia, the Czech Republic. The city will also hold exhibitions of arts and crafts, antique New Year decorations, master classes in souvenir making and Belarusian folk games.
“Batleika, a folk puppet show, is one of the most interesting types of the theater art. We have held numerous shows in our theater and every time see people’s interest in them. We hope that the idea of uniting talented people with the help of this festival will be to the liking of Mogilev residents,” Svetlana Strogina noted.
The festival opened with five folk theaters from Mogilev, Nesvizh and Saint Petersburg.
