Mogilev Airport mulls charter flights to Bulgaria

MOGILEV, 12 December (BelTA) – Mogilev Airport, a subsidiary of Belaeronavigatsiya Company, is mulling over the possibility of introducing charter flights to Bulgaria, Mogilev Airport head Vladimir Nikitin said as he met with representatives of Mogilev Oblast travel agencies on 11 December, BelTA has learned.

In his words, about Br80 billion have been injected in the modernization of Mogilev Airport in the recent years. The new service will be made possible due to the overhaul and upgrade of the airport’s runway. “We have just received all necessary certificates to service passenger aircraft including Boeings and Russian Tu-154. We are ready to cooperate with tour operators and air companies in order to enhance the operation of the airport,” Vladimir Nikitin said.

The airport is mulling over the introduction of charter flights to Bulgaria for tourists. “We are negotiating with a number of air companies in order to provide Mogilev children with recuperation opportunities in Bulgaria. Bulgaria is very popular with Belarusian tourists. We can operate more than two flights a week to the country in summer,” he noted.

According to Belavia Deputy Director General Igor Cherginets, the airline is ready to operate the service if the marketing component is worked out. He cited as a good example the operation of the airports in Gomel and Brest. Grodno and Vitebsk have been moving gradually in this direction as well.

Igor Cherginets asked travel agencies to work out their proposals (flight capacity and preferable routes) and meet in Minsk in the shortest time possible to elaborate the issue and outline the best areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.
