Mogilev, Azeri Sumgait sign cooperation agreement

Mogilev and the Azerbaijani town of Sumgait have concluded an agreement on cooperation in economic, social and cultural areas. The document was signed during a three-day visit of a Mogilev delegation to Sumgait, BelTA learnt from Head of the Mogilev City Council of Deputies Valery Svistunov who leads the delegation. In the course of the visit representatives of Mogilev visited industrial companies of Sumgait and various social facilities of the town. They also had talks with Azeri businessmen. According to the foreign and economic ties, investments and business development department of the Mogilev City Council, in 2007 the trade between Mogilev and Azerbaijan made up $2.4 million, or 21.6% up as against 2006. Mogilev exported goods at the amount of $1.9 million (15.6% up), imported – at the amount of $1.5 million (58.3% up). Mogilev supplies lifts (90% of the total export), threads, fabrics, liquid pumps and various tools to Azerbaijan. In turn, Azerbaijan supplies mineral products (clays), fabrics and threads to Mogilev.
