Mogilev to host Animayevka film festival in September

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – The International Animated Film Festival Animayevka 2012 will take place in Mogilev on 10-15 September, BelTA learnt from the Mogilev company Kinovideoprokat. Applications to participate in the forum have been received from 19 countries. The festival will welcome for the first time animation movies from Finland, China, Taiwan, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland. Traditionally the program of the festival will include a contest of children’s drawings and arts and crafts, My Favorite Cartoon. A total of 260 works have already been received. Young painters from Kazakhstan will be newcomers this year. The guests of the festival will be USSR People’s Artist Lev Durov and Honored Artist of Russia Oksana Stashenko, Denis Chervyatsov, producer of highly acclaimed animated series, Masha and the Bear, and Alina Kukushkina starring in the series as Masha. The forum will embrace numerous theatrical performances, contests and exhibitions, master classes and other interesting events. Animayenka has been held every year since 1989. Its primary goal is to popularize Belarusian and foreign animation, support animated cinema, showcase modern cartoons, expand cultural ties between Belarus and other countries. The forum is organized by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, Mogilev City Hall, Kinovideoprokat Company.
