Muliavin Competition to be held at Golden Shlyager in Mogilev

The international music festival Golden Shlyager-2008 in Mogilev has already received the first applications for the participation in the contest of vocal and instrumental ensembles named after Vladimir Muliavin, BelTA learnt from artistic director of the promotion centre of Mogilev Philharmonic Society Vasily Buinitsky. The competition has been held for several years already.It is aimed at preserving the best traditions of the ensemble genre and popularizing the songs of People’s Artist of the USSR and Belarus Vladimir Muliavin. Both Belarusian and foreign music groups are welcome to take part in this contest. The participants should be at least 18 years old. The contest has two rounds: the eliminatory run-through and finals. The participants should present two songs. The first one should belong to the repertoire of “Pesnyary” and the second one should be from the participants’ own repertoire. Only 10 vocal and instrumental ensembles will be short listed to participate in the finals. Among the rules of the contest are live singing, using electric guitars, drumkits, electronic keyboard instruments. The professional jury will use voting by show to assess the performance of the participants. The deadline for submitting the songs is September 15. The final date of holding the festival is not determined yet.
