OAO Mogotex invests over $30 million in modernization in five years

MOGILEV, 13 December (BelTA) - OAO Mogotex has invested over $30 million in its modernization in the course of five years, Director General of the enterprise Viktor Matiyevich told media, BelTA has learnt.

According to Viktor Matiyevich, the main stage of the technical re-equipment program, which began in 2008, is about to finish. “We have plans to invest about ?5 million in equipment during the forthcoming year. However, this is only local investment aimed at optimizing costs and expand the product range,” Viktor Matiyevich said.

In line with Mogotex’s business plan the monthly production capacity will be 4-4.1 million long meters of fabrics in late 2015. Currently the enterprise’s capacity does not exceed 3.6 million long meters. Fabrics for overalls account for 70% of the total output, while home textile products account for 25%.

“We are guided by long-term cooperation programs when purchasing new equipment. This is why we choose European manufacturers which products meet the highest standards. We will continue to adhere to such a strategy in the future because we get advantageous prices and better supply contracts as a result of long-term cooperation,” Viktor Matiyevich said.

OAO Mogotex operates three units: a weaving factory, a garment factory and a finishing shop. In 2013 the latter got new Swiss laboratory equipment for creating formulas to dye textiles. The newly installed system allows introducing automated process to create dyeing formulas.

According to Viktor Matiyevich, the enterprise takes significant interest in the development of garment manufacture which capacities allow producing 20,000 units of special clothing and uniform and 30,000 units for interior per month. Mogotex has opened new factories in two regions over the last two years. In 2011 a branch of the garment factory was opened in Bykhov, Mogilev Oblast, while in 2013 a sewing shop was opened at the affiliated enterprise Mona in Polotsk, Vitebsk Oblast. The latter sews ready-made products for the Swedish company IKEA. “We have already reached the maximum capacity at that garment facility but we have a big cooperation program with IKEA ahead. This is why the partners want us to increase our sewing capacities,” Viktor Matiyevich said.

It costs us about $100,000 to create an entirely new complex fabric, the Director General added. In 2013 the enterprise created over 10 such fabrics. Speaking about trends in the textile industry he drew attention to requirements for modern fabrics. These products should be multifunctional, should protect a person in many ways being comfortable, hard-wearing and light and having a reasonable price. This is why it is important that the enterprise should embrace such elements as cutting-edge equipment, advanced technology, quality raw materials and highly-skilled staff.

Founded in 1973 and reincorporated as a joint stock company in 2000, Mogotex is a major manufacturer of textile products in Belarus and the CIS. The company offers fabrics for special clothing and uniforms, raincoats along with garment-lining fabrics, ready-made overalls, and home textile products.
