President’s special fund prizes conferred on 75 students in Mogilev oblast

Some 75 students of the Mogilev oblast became prize winners of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Support of the Talented Youth in 2007 (70 prize-holders in 2006), BelTA learnt from Natalia Morgunova, a leading specialist of the education department of the oblast executive committee. According to her, the prize-holders are the winners of the national Olympiads and creative contests in2007. The President’s fund took special note of the students of lyceums #1 and #3, schools of Mogilev and Bobruisk, the Glusk, Klimovichi, Klichev, Krugloye and Mogilev regions. Besides, the prize was conferred on graduate of Mogilev gymnasium #2 Denis Gromozdov, the winner of the International Mendeleyev Chemistry Olympiad. “The Mogilev oblast regions have recently seen an increase in winners of subject Olympiads what testifies to the better quality of education,” Natalia Morgunova said. For example, in 2007 Irina Nesterova (school #2, the town of Klichev) and Maria Basharimova (school #1, the town of Krugloye) won the national Olympiad in Russian. All in all, the regional winners accounted for 25% of the total (20% in 2006), the specialist noted. The prizes of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Support of the Talented Youth were also awarded to 14 pedagogues of the Mogilev oblast for contribution to the education of the students who achived high results in studies and public activity. Among them were chemistry teacher Lidiya Voloshina (gymnasium #2, Mogilev), Russian language and literature teacher Valentina Tatarova (gymnasium #1, Mogilev), physics teacher Vladimir Gratsevich ( school #1, Bobruisk) and others.
