BURABAY, 16 October (BelTA) – The CIS Heads of State Council meeting has started in Burabay, Kazakhstan, BelTA informs.
Partaking in the summit are the CIS heads of state, including Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. The summit will be followed by an expanded-format meeting.
The agenda of the CIS summit includes 17 issues. The heads of state plan to adopt joint statements to mark the 70th anniversary of the United Nations Organization, the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident and the one to combat international terrorism. A number of issues will highlight further strengthening of military and border cooperation. The meeting will also discuss some personnel matters.
Kazakhstan will also host a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The meeting will focus on major international activities, EEU economic development, approaches to the development of trade and economic cooperation with main partners for a midterm perspective. The presidents will consider admission procedure to the membership of the EEU and the order of terminating the EEU membership, talks with the State of Israel on signing the free trade agreement. The agenda of the session will also include a number of organizational issues.
