EU expects positive outcome from Normandy format meeting in Minsk
MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – The European Union expects positive results from the Normandy format meeting on Ukraine in Minsk on 11 February, Charge d'Affaires of the EU delegation in Belarus Richard Rudolph told reporters on 11 February, BelTA has learned.
“We will hope for fruitful work and positive results of the meeting. The war should be stopped anyways,” Richard Rudolph said.
The Charge d'Affaires believes that this will be possible if all the participants of the meeting are ready for it. “I think they are ready enough. This readiness is due to a very strong involvement of the President of France and the German Chancellor who, backed by the European Union, went to Ukraine and Russia to speak with various parties to the conflict,” Richard Rudolph said.
Overall, the European Union welcomes Belarus’ role in settling the Ukraine crisis. “We see that Minsk has turned out a convenient place to hold the Normandy format meeting, too,” Richard Rudolph added.
