MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – Upon the blessing of Patriarch Kirill the icon and relics of St Sergius of Radonezh were brought to the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Minsk on 20 July, BelTA learned from the official portal of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
The relic will be kept in the Holy Spirit Cathedral till 25 July. The icon was brought to the Belarusian capital in honor of the 700th anniversary of the birth of St Sergius of Radonezh.
The access to the icon will be open from 7:00 to 22:00 on 21-24 July, from 8:00 to 14:30 on 25 July.
St Sergius of Radonezh is one of the most revered saints in the Orthodox Church.
Incorruptible relics of St Sergius of Radonezh were uncovered on 5 July 1422 in 30 years after his death. The shrine with the relics is kept in the Holy Trinity Cathedral of St Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad.
