Chinese studies classroom opened in Mogilev gymnasium
MOGILEV, 27 December (BelTA) – A Confucius classroom for studying the Chinese language and the Chinese culture was opened in Mogilev’s gymnasium No. 3 on 26 December, BelTA has learned.
Students of the gymnasium have been studying Chinese as an extracurricular activity for two years now. Their interest in the Chinese culture is strong, with about 200 guys and girls taking the classes. Many of them intend to continue studying foreign languages in university.
Thanks to the opening of the Confucius classroom the Mogilev gymnasium will become part of the network of Confucius institutes, which are located all over the world. Teachers of Chinese volunteer to teach such students. The students will also enjoy access to modern textbooks and will be able to take part in various international educational and cultural projects.
The gymnasium teachers and students believe that studying Chinese is an excellent idea since Belarus-China cooperation actively develops in various spheres, primarily in economy. The vivid examples include the construction of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, the arrival of Chinese companies and major investments in Belarus and its regions. The events indicate that a lot of specialists that speak Chinese and Russian will be needed in the future.
Three Confucius institutes already work as part of various Belarusian universities. Classrooms in secondary schools and gymnasiums are set up with their assistance. Plans have been made to open a center for studying the Chinese language and the Chinese culture in the Mogilev State University soon.
