Kronospan to invest over €10m in expanding metal structures production in FEZ Mogilev
MOGILEV, 3 March (BelTA) – The Austrian holding company Kronospan will invest over €10 million in expanding the production of metal structures in the free economic zone (FEZ) Mogilev in 2018, Kronospan representatives told BelTA.
IOOO Kronospan OSB is a resident company in FEZ Mogilev. It specializes in making oriented strand boards for civil engineering and furniture industry. The available free space will be used to build two shops to make metal structures and cargo containers. They represent a new avenue of work for Kronospan but the products sell well on the market at present and the rest of the holding company needs them, too. The first shop to make metal structures, which are used to build manufacturing enterprises, warehouses, large retail outlets, and so on, was commissioned in December 2017. The decision to expand the project and commission another line able to make 500 tonnes of metal structures per month has been made this year.
The production of freight containers for various means of transportation — trucks, railway cars, ships, and aircraft — will begin nearby. The containers will be designed for mechanized transshipment operations.
The new manufacturing facilities are expected to create about 100 jobs in 2018-2019.
At present the Austrian holding company Kronospan is the leading producer of wood boards and laminated floor pavement. The holding company unites 28 manufacturing sites in 24 countries across the globe and employs about 12,000 people. The company’s sales stand at €2.7 billion per year. The company has set up three enterprises in FEZ Mogilev. IOOO Kronospan OSB makes oriented strand boards. OOO Kronochem makes carbamide-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde resins and components. OOO Kronospan Steel Constructions makes metal structures.
