Mogilev, Chinese Zhengzhou sign program of cooperation for 2016-2017
MOGILEV, 28 June (BelTA) - Mogilev and Chinese Zhengzhou signed a program of cooperation for 2016-2017. The document was signed by Chairman of the Mogilev City Hall Vladimir Tsumarev and Vice Mayor of the People's Government of Zhengzhou City Xue Yunwei, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Tsumarev, this document will help raise a level of cooperation between the two cities which became sister cities two years ago. “Before that we participated in joint cultural events. Now it is time we engage in economic cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis. First of all, we agreed to bolster ties in trade, economic and investment fields, attract more Chinese investments and work towards the creation of new joint ventures,” the Mayor said.
The program spells out a number of specific projects to be implemented within the next two years. “We intend to develop tourism, promote direct contacts between educational and medical institutions, and participate in joint cultural events, business events. For example, a delegation of Zhengzhou will participate in the 8th International Investment Economic Forum in Mogilev, and Mogilev will send a delegation for the international landscaping exhibition in Zhengzhou,” Vladimir Tsumarev said.
According to Xue Yunwei, Mogilev and Zhengzhou have great potential for cooperation. Today's meeting will serve as another impetus to the development of mutually beneficial relations. “Having visited local enterprises processing agricultural products, we have made sure they are of high quality and are interested in their import. I am convinced that they will be in demand in China. Besides, Mogilev has an advantageous geographical position and offers favorable conditions for investors. We will try to communicate this information to as many Chinese businessmen as possible in order to attract capital to implement joint economic projects,” the Vice Mayor noted.
He also noted that Mogilev is a clean and beautiful city, with hospitable people. The rich history and cultural traditions of the region provide a good opportunity for the development of tourism, cultural exchange.” We are open for cooperation and are interested in strengthening relations in all areas. This will contribute to the development of our territories and friendship among peoples,” Xue Yunwei noted.
The Chinese delegation visited the Free Economic Zone Mogilev, a number of industrial and investment sites. The guests were taken on a guided tour around the city and the Buinichi Field Memorial Complex.
