New recreation park in Mogilev
MOGILEV, 18 March (BelTA) – A project to lay out a new recreation park in Mogilev will be launched during a city-wide volunteer clean-up day on 29 March, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Mogilev City Hall Vladimir Tsumarev. This will be an unusual park with various recreation areas, playgrounds, catering facilities, beach on the Dnieper River, car parking facilities. The project will be implemented in stages over several years and financed from the city budget, through sponsorships and investments, the mayor said.
“Mogilev lacks good parks with developed infrastructure for leisure and entertainment. The city authorities have been discussing the idea of creating such a park for a long time,” said the mayor. The location is a beautiful green area in the city center next to St. Nicholas Monastery, a specimen of architecture of the 17th century. St. Nicholas church located on the monastery grounds is on the UNESCO list of the most valuable Baroque-style buildings.
Preparation of the design estimates is in progress. Mogilevzelenstroy company is now cleaning up the place designated for the construction of wild shrubs and trees. The first alleys, flowerbeds and paths in the new park will be laid out during the city-wide volunteer clean-up day.
"We are open to various proposals regarding the park development, new objects, small architectural forms, ponds and other things. We look forward to the cooperation and assistance from local residents. We hope the park will become a calling card of the city on the Dnieper,” said Vladimir Tsumarev.
