Belarus, Rosatom set BelNPP construction tasks for 2017
MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) - A regular meeting of the operations center for the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was held in Ostrovets with the participation of Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko and Rosatom Deputy Director General Alexander Lokshin, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry.
The meeting considered the status of construction of the nuclear power plant, the delivery and receipt of the equipment, the quality of the works, the results of control (supervision) activities, and other issues. The meeting adopted the decisions regarding all the issues and set the tasks for 2017.
The meeting was attended by Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik, representatives of the state bodies concerned, the Belarusian nuclear power plant (customer), the ASE Engineering Company (prime contractor) and the entities involved in the construction.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build a VVER-1200 type nuclear power plant 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The BelNPP will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW).
